Dr. Tracy Gershwin Mueller, an alumna of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Sears Helgoth Distinguished Teaching Award. Mueller is a Professor of Special Education at the University of North Colorado (UNC).
The award, administered by the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, recognizes a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to teaching and learning, and to the enhancement of the intellectual development and lives of UNC students.
The University of North Colorado award is supported by the generosity of Kathleen Sears and Jim Helgoth, who established the award to recognize the best professors and their impact on the student university experience and career success.
Mueller, an intervention specialist in applied behavior analysis, teaches classes primarily in the area of behavior to both undergraduate and graduate students. She received a Ph.D. in 2004 from the Department of Education in the area of Special Education, Disabilities, and Risk Studies, working with Dr. George Singer as her thesis advisor.
