Melissa Morgan Consoli of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School was invited to give the lecture entitled “U.S. Latino/a Immigrant Students in Higher Education” to psychology students and faculty at the Instituto de Education Superior No. 28 en Rosario, Argentina. The event was sponsored by the Instituto Rosario de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Education and El Centro de Estudios del Español como Lengua Extranjera de la Facultad de Humanidades y Artes de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina. While there, Morgan Consoli also was invited to comment on a book being released by the Instituto Rosario de Investigaciones en Cinecnias de la Education entitled Diseño e implementation de proyectos interculturales en la formation docente: competencia intercultural y cultura regional (Design and implementation of intercultural projects in teaching: intercultural competence and regional culture) which was sponsored by the Minesterio de Ciencia, Tecnologia e Innovation Productiva de la Provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina.
Melissa Morgan Consoli is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology. All of her research is conducted through a social justice lens, using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods designs as well as community based research paradigms. Her goal is for research to be culturally relevant, informative in the development of prevention and other community programs, and useful in addressing societal issues of concern for the populations with whom she works.
