Department of Clinical, Counseling, and School Psychology (CCSP) doctoral students Yvette Ramirez and Kaylin Russell received the 2023 Abdullah and Marjorie Rose Nasser Memorial Fellowships in Psychology. Established by CCSP alum Charles Nasser to honor his late parents, the Abdullah and Marjorie Rose Nasser Memorial Fellowship in Psychology supports graduate students within CCSP, particularly those with a strong record of scholarship and contributions to the broader Psychological & Brain Sciences and UCSB communities.
Yvette Ramirez is a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology. Her current research interests explore the influences of witnessing domestic violence on intimate relationships among Latinx females. She has experience providing peer counseling at the university level and is looking forward to expanding her professional experiences. She has also worked as a Diversity & Outreach Peer Advisor for UCSB Graduate Division.
Kaylin Russell is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology working with Dr. Ty Vernon. After earning her B.A. in Psychology from Michigan State University in 2018, she worked as the manager of the Michigan State University Autism Research Lab under Dr. Brooke Ingersoll. Kaylin’s current research interests include examining the feasibility, acceptance, and efficacy of social skills groups for autistic teenagers and school-aged children with ASD. As a clinician, she implements parent coaching interventions such as PRT and PCIT and really enjoys working with each of her clients in the Koegel Autism Center’s assessment and intervention clinics.
