The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School has developed a playlist of videos about the Department and School to aid and inform prospective students during a time of travel restrictions. The 16 videos, featuring every Senate Faculty member in the Department and several graduate students, cover topics ranging from Hiking in Santa Barbara to Qualities of a Successful Graduate Student. “This year has been filled with new and unexpected challenges, but change always comes with new possibilities which we have embraced!” says Professor Maryam Kia-Keating, the coordinator of the project. “We have an incredible pool of applicants to our program this year, and we are looking forward to welcoming a vibrant and passionate group of potential graduate students next fall 2021. We created a playlist of videos to introduce this year’s applicants and future applicants to our faculty, students, and campus. Many of our applicants have never had a chance to visit Santa Barbara, and this year they can only visit virtually for now, so we want them to get a sense of the people and the place. We are excited that these circumstances helped us create an archive to share our excitement about our program and the wonderful and talented people we get to spend time with, whether virtually or in person, here at GGSE.”

The doctoral program in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association as a combined psychology program. The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) adheres to a scientist-practitioner training model; therefore, heavy emphasis is placed on developing academic, research, and practitioner knowledge and skills.
The organizing themes that integrate the identity of the department are (a) the values of human diversity and individual differences (b) health and development across the lifespan, and (c) ecological (e.g., family, school, societal) influences on human behavior.
Degrees: Ph.D. in Counseling, Clinical, or School Psychology; M.Ed. with Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology or M.A. in Counseling Psychology offered as an option en route to the Ph.D once you are admitted. (We do not currently offer a terminal MA or M.Ed. program).
