The California Global Education Project at UC Santa Barbara is proud to present Teaching for Sustainable Communities 2023, a restorative and community-based approach to integrating sustainability into classroom curriculum. Using a solutions-forward approach, participants will identify ways to support their students in acting on a sustainability issue they care deeply about. The summer institute will be held in person at UCSB’s Gevirtz School from June 20 through June 22 from 9 am to 3 pm. Registration is available online.
Attendees will receive support for integrating sustainability and global competence into their classroom curriculums, as well as free supplementary books and materials. They will also explore ways to engage students using the global competence framework and experience the restorative power of nature connection.
Registration is open and free for all PK-12 teachers in Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Kern Counties. Breakfast, lunch, and parking will be provided.
