Tania Israel of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School will give the talk What Halibut Fajitas Taught Me About Bridging the Political Divide at TEDxUCSB on Sunday, April 16 in Campbell Hall. The entire event is free to students and $20 for everyone else (lunch is included).
Connecting across political lines requires knowledge and skills. What can we learn about bridging the divide from our life experiences? Dr. Tania Israel, professor of Counseling Psychology at UCSB, Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Gevirtz School, and award-winning author of Beyond Your Bubble: How to Bridge the Political Divide, Skills and Strategies for Conversations That Work, shares insights she gained from eating halibut fajitas.
This is Dr. Israel’s third TEDx Talk. In 2021, she spoke at TEDxSanLuisObispo on How to Win a Political Argument, and her 2015 TEDxUCLA talk, Bisexuality and Beyond, has been viewed over 100,000 times.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
