Shannon Rivard was selected by fellow staff members for the 2021 Gevirtz Graduate School of Education Staff Citation of Excellence Award on Feb. 5.
As Department Administrator for the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP), Rivard provides support to the CCSP Chair and faculty, coordinates curriculum and faculty workload planning, department events, visiting scholar appointments, financial management of department funds, and collaborates on all department academic recruitments, appointments and merit reviews.
“I am grateful and consider myself fortunate to work with such a tremendous group of talented, hard-working, and collaborative colleagues,” Rivard says. “With that being said, I am truly honored to be the chosen recipient of the 2020-21 GGSE Staff Citation of Excellence Award.”
“Shannon has been amazing this past year,” one if her nominators for the award wrote. “CCSP would be lost without Shannon. She is the go-to person when any administrative question comes up. She also consistently goes above and beyond, doing more than what is asked of her (e.g., filling in info on faculty reimbursement worksheets) to make things work more smoothly. Any time I have a question for Shannon, I get a response within a couple hours. And she is always first on Zoom meetings and greets with a smile and some funny story of how things have been going in her life. There are so many other things that I am sure she does for others but these are the ones that jump out for me. Thank you, Shannon!”
Also nominated for the 2021 award were Aaron Ballett (Executive Assistant to the Dean), Samantha Cole (Program Administrator for the Teacher Education Program), Lilly Garcia (Director of Outreach), Kelly Hayton (Manager, Finance and Administration), Brenda Lavin (Program Coordinator for the Education Department), Mark McCann (Help Desk Manager), Maria Sanchez-Gonzalez (CCSP Program Coordinator), and Tracey Velasquez (Employment Analyst).
The previous winners of the Staff Citation of Excellence Award were Katie Tuccarione (Credential Analyst) in 2020 and Kelly Hayton (Manager, Finance and Administration) in 2019.
