Nine Gevirtz School graduate students in the Department of Education are taking part in the 2014 UC Santa Barbara’s Graduate Student Showcase Grad Slam. The students participating in the Grad Slam – a campus-wide competition for the best three-minute talk – are Henry L. Covarrubias, Ryan Dippre, Mario Galicia, Jr., Gary Haddow, Jenna Joo, Sunny Kim, Elizabeth Mainz, Sungmin Moon, Priscilla Pereschica, and Michele N. Zugnoni. Sixty-three graduate students representing departments and programs all across campus are scheduled to compete. This is an opportunity for graduate students to tell the campus about their research or share their thoughts on big ideas that matter. Creative presentations are welcome but all talks must include a live oral presentation and between one and three PowerPoint slides. The grand prize is $2,500. Two runners-up will receive $1,000. And, the top four presenters in each preliminary round will receive a $50 gift card to the UCSB bookstore.
