SANTA BARBARA – Seven graduate students from the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) at the UC Santa Barbara Gevirtz Graduate School of Education have earned prestigious 2024 internships across the country to complete their work for a Ph.D.
Each year, students in their final year of doctoral studies compete nationally for APA-accredited predoctoral internships to complete the applied portion of their degrees. Securing an internship was extremely competitive, with nearly 4,000 students vying for positions nationwide.
All of the Gevirtz School students took part in the APPIC Internship Matching Program that places applicants into psychology internship positions at training sites in the United States and Canada. The Match is sponsored and supervised by the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).
The seven Gevirtz School CCSP students and their internship sites are as follows:
Meghan Evans - UC Davis Children's Hospital CAARE Center
Isabel Lopez - Arizona State University
Alessandra Mittelstet - Santa Barbara Psychology Internship Consortium
Alice Mullins - VA Maryland Health Care System/University of Maryland School Mental Health
Amaranta Ramirez - Washington State University
Kaylin Russell - University of Colorado School of Medicine
Madeline Spiess - Western Youth Services
“I am so proud of the seven CCSP students that matched for internships this year!” said Miya Barnett, Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training at the Gevirtz School. “This process is always stressful and anxiety inducing, and they handled it with grace and were so supportive of each other. The sites are incredibly lucky to work with this group of interns from the CCSP.”
