Doctoral student Maggie Chan and Dr. Jill Sharkey of the Department of Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology are conducting a study to understand the stress elementary school teachers experience during school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and its influence on their psychological and professional well-being. The purpose of the study is providing implications and suggestions for current policy implementation or future policy development to support teachers either during prolonged school closures or in normal school operation.
The researchers are looking for participants: any certified teacher who has been working in an elementary school in the United States for at least six months is invited to take part. Participants will complete an online survey, which will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The survey will ask questions about the teacher’s experience of stress in the past few months since schools have been closed, and its influence on their psychological and professional well-being.
The survey, and more information, is available online. All the information provided for this project will be kept confidential and anonymous.
