Dr. Torrey Trust, an alumna of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher’s Education (JDLTE) Research Paper Award and has also been honored by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) as an Emerging Leader. Each year these awards honor those leading the way in connecting technology to learning and preparing students for living and working in a connected world. These educators are leaders in the field, and they inspire others with their commitment and dedication.
The JDLTE Research Paper Award honors outstanding researchers for the potential of their manuscript to advance teacher education. Trust and her co-authors Daniel G. Krutka, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction, Texas Woman’s University and Jeffrey P. Carpenter, associate professor, school of education, Elon University, received this award for their paper “Elements of Engagement: A Model of Teacher Interactions via Professional Learning Networks.”
Trust is an Assistant Professor of Learning Technology in the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Education on 2014.
