Kelly Keene received A Salute to Teachers Award as a 2018 Santa Barbara County Distinguished New Educator. The 5th Annual A Salute to Teachers is a collaborative celebration of Santa Barbara County’s finest educators, schools, and business partners. Presented by the Santa Barbara County Education Office and Cox Communications, A Salute to Teachers is the premier teacher recognition event held in honor of teachers countywide. The gala event will be held on October 28, 2017 at the Music Academy of the West.
Keene earned her single subject teaching credential in English and M.Ed. from the Gevirtz School’s Teacher Education Program in 2015. She is teaching at San Marcos High School.
Distinguished New Educators are chosen as they exhibit: exemplary instructional practice; the ability to inspire and effectively interact with students; demonstration of innovative teaching methods and/or ability to overcome obstacles and inspire others; and the ability to engage in a continuous cycle of reflection and instructional improvement.
