Melissa Morgan Consoli of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School gave an invited presentation at the 3rd Annual Bridges to Resilience Conference on October 11. Morgan Consoli’s presentation was titled “Things Our Grandmothers Taught Us: Culture and Resilience.” Santa Barbara County ACEs Connection presented the event.
Santa Barbara County ACEs Connection works collectively to educate its community about ACEs (adverse childhood experiences), resilience, and trauma-informed care. The group exchanges ideas, shares opportunities and fosters connections to transform lives through practical and community-centered solutions.
Melissa Morgan Consoli is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology. All of her research is conducted through a social justice lens, using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods designs as well as community based research paradigms. Her goal is for research to be culturally relevant, informative in the development of prevention and other community programs, and useful in addressing societal issues of concern for the populations with whom she works.
