LeBaron Woodyard from UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School is the recipient of the 2015 Lorraine Berry Leadership Award presented by the California Community College Council for Staff and Organizational Development (4C/SD). The award was presented to him with sincere appreciation for his leadership and contributions to statewide professional development.
LeBaron Woodyard – a Ph. D. candidate in the Department of Education, working with advisor Dr. Judith Green – is currently the dean of Academic Affairs for the Chancellor’s Office, California Community Colleges. He is responsible for distance education, library and learning resources programs, faculty and staff minimum qualifications, flexible calendar, fund for instructional improvement (FII), and open educational resources. He has 40 years of experience in higher education, and has served in the California State University system, the Claremont Colleges, and the California Community Colleges system. He has been in the California Community Colleges system for 30 years, nine of which have been at Laney College in Oakland, with the other 21 in the system’s chancellor’s office.
4C/SD is an organization that provides training resources and networking opportunities for staff development professionals of the California community colleges. It promotes leadership in staff, program, and organizational development; provides education for the staff developers regarding the principles of staff and organizational development; provides training in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective staff development programs; provides regional and statewide workshops and conferences; and serves as a liaison between the State Chancellor’s office and the colleges regarding staff development issues and serves as an advocate for Staff Development concerns.
