One hundred and five faculty members and graduate students from UC Santa Barbara, the overwhelming majority from or affiliated with the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, will take part in 68 events, panels, poster presentations, and workshops at the 2016 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., April 8 - April 12. The scholars, researchers, and teachers will discuss the latest findings on topics as diverse as the Impacts of an International Student Teaching Practicum, Cultivating a College-Going Identity: Latina/o Students’ Perceptions of Teacher Support, Utilizing Latent Profile Analysis to Determine the Appropriate Mentorship for Community College STEM Majors, and Differential Effects of Math Attitudes and Self-Efficacy on STEM Outcomes.

The theme of the 2016 AERA Annual Convention is “Public Scholarship to Educate Diverse Democracies.” The American Educational Research Association (AERA), founded in 1916, is concerned with improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and evaluation and, by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results. AERA is the most prominent international professional organization, with the primary goal of advancing educational research and its practical application. Its 25,000 members are educators; administrators; directors of research; persons working with testing or evaluation in federal, state and local agencies; counselors; evaluators; graduate students; and behavioral scientists.
