Alumna Elina Saeki of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School has been appointed Assistant Professor in Special Education and Counseling and Program Coordinator of the M.S. School Psychology Program at California State University, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology from UC Santa Barbara in 2012, working with Dr. Matt Quirk as her advisor. Saeki completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District in Texas. Prior to joining Cal State LA, Dr. Saeki was an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the M.A. School Psychology Program at the University of Houston-Victoria. Dr. Saeki’s research interests involve theoretical and practical applications to enhance school-based mental health services. In particular, her scholarly work focuses on the impact of test-based accountability policies on teachers and students, social-emotional literacy interventions, applications of school-based consultation in diverse schools, and training and supervision in school psychology.
